Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026 | Version: PRIV-NZ-2026-V2
FG Finance Limited ("we", "us", "our") takes the privacy of your personal and credit information seriously. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and share that information, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Credit Reporting Privacy Code.
If you have any questions relating to this policy, or would like a printed hard copy, please contact our designated Privacy Officer whose details are provided at the end of this document.
Information Privacy Principle 3A (IPP 3A) Compliance
Information Privacy Principle 3A (IPP 3A), introduced by the Privacy Amendment Act 2025 and in force from 1 May 2026, deals with collecting someone's personal information from a source other than that person — in other words, indirect collection.
As a premium funder, we usually receive a client's personal information indirectly, through their insurance broker, submitted via our secure broker portal (crm.fgfinance.co.nz).
In compliance with IPP 3A, when an insurance broker transmits your personal or commercial credit information to us, we take reasonable steps to ensure that you are notified of, or are otherwise aware of:
- The fact that we have collected your personal information from your insurance broker or another source.
- The specific purpose of the collection (i.e. to assess, verify, and administer your premium funding loan facility).
- The intended recipients or categories of recipients of the information (e.g. credit bureaus, underwriting insurers, or clearing banks).
- The name and address of the agency collecting the information and the agency holding it.
- If the collection is authorised or required by law, the particular law that authorises or requires it.
- Your rights of access to, and request for correction of, your personal details.
We take these steps as soon as reasonably practicable after collecting the information, unless you have already been made aware of these matters or another exception under the Privacy Act 2020 applies.
What we ask of brokers: when a partner broker submits an application for a client, they must confirm the client has been given our Privacy Collection Statement and knows about this Privacy Policy.
1. Types of Information We Collect
We collect personal and credit-related details only if it is necessary for our operations. Depending on the product or service we provide, the information we collect may include:

- Financial information: bank account details for direct debits, card details, credit history, income, and assets and liabilities where needed for a credit assessment.
- Policy information: details of the insurance you've arranged through your broker — insurer, policy period, premium amount and policy number.
- Credit reports: credit information from registered New Zealand credit bureaus, which can include payment history and credit assessments.
2. How We Use Your Information
We only use your information for legitimate business purposes, including:
- To process, evaluate, and verify credit applications.
- To establish, administer, and manage your premium funding facility (including processing repayments and automated direct debits).
- To monitor credit worthiness and enforce debt collection processes where necessary.
- To comply with our regulatory obligations under New Zealand law (such as the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009).
- To facilitate administrative operations, including system testing and consumer surveys.
- We may also use secure technology platforms, including automated and AI-assisted tools, to process information and generate documentation, subject to appropriate safeguards.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We may share your information with others, always under appropriate safeguards and only where relevant, including:
- Your insurance broker and the insurer(s) underwriting your policy.
- Registered New Zealand credit reporting bodies (such as Equifax, illion or Centrix) to run credit checks or report defaults.
- Secured mailing houses, IT service providers, administrative contractors, debt recovery agencies, and lawyers.
- Government, regulatory, or law enforcement bodies in New Zealand where required or permitted by law.
4. Accessing and Correcting Your Information
The New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 gives you the right to ask for a copy of the personal and credit information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct anything that's wrong or out of date.
To ensure confidentiality, we will verify your identity thoroughly before releasing any data. While accessing your information is completely free of charge, we may recover reasonable administrative expenses incurred (such as photocopying or search time) if your request requires substantial administrative effort.
